what we grow

Here, we grow what we love—fresh vegetables, juicy fruits, fragrant flowers, and more—all cultivated with care and harvested at the peak of ripeness. From hand-picked vegetables and sun-ripened fruits to farm-fresh eggs and homemade honey bread, every bite reflects our passion for quality, freshness, and flavor.

Our farm's roots run deep in tradition, inspired by Farmer Chris's childhood summers spent at his grandparents' dairy farm outside of Colorado Springs. Those early experiences, weeding in Grandma’s expansive kitchen garden and tasting just-picked peas and cherries, ignited a lifelong love for growing and eating the freshest foods. Today, we carry on that legacy by cultivating the same love for fruits and vegetables, offering our guests an authentic farm experience where you can savor the difference that truly fresh produce makes. Come taste the difference that care, tradition, and a love for the land bring to every meal.

  • Each year we grow around 30 individual vegetable crops from arugula to zucchini.  By the end of the season we'll grow more than 75 varieties all together (this happens because we grow more than one variety of most crops).  The best part is that all of this diversity ends up as a variety of colors & flavors on your plate!

For 2025 we will be growing the following vegetables:

    • Arugula

    • Asian Greens

    • Basil

    • Beans

    • Beets

    • Cabbage

    • Carrots

    • Cauliflower

    • Cilantro

    • Cucumber

    • Dill

    • Eggplant

    • Green Beans

    • Kale

    • Kohlrabi

    • Lettuce

    • Onions

    • Parsley Peas

    • Peppers

    • Potatoes

    • Radish

    • Spinach

    • Squash

    • Swiss Chard

    • Tomatoes

  • We started planting fruit trees and raspberry bushes back in 2014.  Most years we have a small harvest from these young trees and bushes.  As the farm grows we will add more fruit trees.  Down the road we hope all of these fruit investments will pay off with increasing harvests.

  • Roost Farms multi-grain bread is home-ground, from wheat berries into fresh flour, using ten different types of grains and seeds.  Baked here at the farm on or just before harvest share pickup on Thursdays. Watch out- more than a few harvest share members have polished off their loaf of bread before leaving the parking area.

  • We harvest honey from our strong, healthy hives in the fall.  Our finished honey is never heated.  Our harvested honey is completely organic and raw and is offered for sale when available here at Roost Farms.

** Harvested honey is not included with the harvest share

  • We know beauty matters so we grow flowers.  Our flowers make us happy and we think they will make you happy too.  You’ll leave with a flower bouquet most weeks at harvest share pickup- last year we had flowers every week by the end of June.

Here are the flowers we are currently growing:

    • Cosmos

    • Black-eyes Susans

    • Strawflowers

    • Sun Flowers

    • Zinnias

  • Roost Farms hens get to live life as a chicken should.  Scratching, pecking, and roaming around.  Does having a true chicken's life matter?  I'm sure it does from the chicken's perspective.  It matters from our point of view as well.  Many times we've laughed watching a chicken scratch around in a mulch pile or show up at the picnic table just when we've sat down to eat.  It's also a thrill to realize these hens are free to be who they were made to be.  Then, there's the eggs.  We marvel at the color of the yolks and savor the flavor.  We think you'll agree- it all matters.
